How does an estate sale work?
Back in Time Ventures, Inc. handles the entire process, including evaluating the contents of the home, researching and pricing items, organizing and staging the property, advertising the sale, managing customers and transactions, and providing a final reconciliation after the sale.
How do I know if I have enough for an estate sale?
Every home and situation is different. We offer a free consultation to evaluate the quantity, condition, and potential value of the items. If an estate sale is not the best option, we will explain other possible solutions.
How much does it cost to hold an estate sale?
We generally work on commission, meaning our fee is based on a percentage of the sale proceeds. There are typically no upfront fees for conducting the sale. Any additional services or expenses are discussed and approved before the agreement is signed.
How long does the estate-sale process take?
The timeline depends on the size and contents of the home. Most sales require time for sorting, research, pricing, staging, photography, and advertising before the sale dates. We will provide an estimated schedule after evaluating the property.
Do I need to organize or clean the house first?
No. Please do not throw anything away until we have evaluated the property. Items that appear insignificant can sometimes have collectible or resale value. Our team will help sort, organize, and prepare the contents for the sale.
How are items priced?
We use our merchandising experience, market research, comparable sales, condition, rarity, and local buyer demand to determine appropriate pricing. Special attention is given to antiques, vintage items, collectibles, artwork, jewelry, furniture, and other potentially valuable pieces.
What happens to items that do not sell?
Unsold-item options are discussed with the client and may include donation, cleanout, removal, or leaving selected items at the property. Any cleanout service or additional expense is discussed and approved before the work begins.
When will I receive the sale proceeds?
The payment schedule and final reconciliation process are explained in the estate-sale agreement. After the sale, clients receive a summary showing total sales, authorized expenses, commission, and the amount due to the client.
Are you insured?
Yes. Back in Time Ventures, Inc. carries business liability insurance. Proof of insurance can be provided when required.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, major credit cards, and Zelle. Credit-card processing fees may apply.
Can I purchase items before a sale begins?
We generally do not offer presales unless otherwise stated in the individual sale listing. Selected furniture or other large items may occasionally be available before the public sale.
Are prices negotiable?
Prices are generally firm on the first day. Discounts or negotiation may be offered later in the sale, subject to client-approved minimum prices and any stated exclusions.
Are children, pets, or large bags allowed?
Policies may vary depending on the property. Shoppers should review the individual sale listing before attending. For safety and security, large bags may be restricted, and children must remain supervised.
